This little queenpost bridge, known as the Yankee Creek Covered Bridge, was built in 1922 by Lyle and Wes Hartman. The 44-foot span was located about 12 miles northeast of Medford on Yankee Creek Road, about one mile from the Antelope Creek Bridge. After the Yankee Creek structure was replaced in 1974, county workers burned the timbers, leaving only smoldering embers for the protesters who favored saving the bridge. (Courtesy ODOT.)

Lost Creek Bridge spans Lost Creek east of Medford. Locals still argue over the construction date, with some claiming 1881 and others saying 1919. For many years, the 39-foot bridge crossed Lost Creek without portal boards on both ends. In the early 1990s, however, workers restored the queenpost span with the installation of new portal boards. Exterior buttresses stabilize the structure. At the time of its restoration, the bridge was bypassed with a nearby concrete span. (Courtesy ODOT.)
